Fall is in full swing here in Blacksburg, and after a rocky start to the semester- getting Covid and adjusting to all online classes- we are settled in and enjoying college. I thought I’d post some pics that I think will mark this semester, starting with my room which I spend a good amount of time in.

I love having my bed by the window and get light in my room pretty much all day. When I took this I was in the middle of writing an article for the CWIB Chronicles which is pretty typical. The VT blanket and pillow pet don’t match my room aesthetic but they make it cozy.

This corner of my room makes me look really cool and trendy- mostly because of my guitar which I pick up and play when I have time. My picture of Lily I had in my dorm of course is in this room too. The little blue cat in the frame on the top right was a screenshot from a book Anna and I read to the kid with special needs we watched over the summer. On my letter board are the lyrics from Protector by Kim Walker-Smith.

I started a collage wall recently so I could hang up things I draw and write and the polaroids I have.

My polaroid, a Build-a-bear I realized had potential to be cool, and the gold hoop earrings from Madewell I wear all of the time.

My desk where I spend a crazy amount of time. The fact that it isn’t clean is an honest depiction of life.

We are reading through Isaiah in church and I got this really pretty book of just Isaiah. Also, the VT pendant Dad put in my desk when he made it is one of my favorite things.

I have hopped on the plant train and I understand why these things are so popular, they really brighten a room.

Sign of the times: lots of masks.

My roommates call my room Room 5 for no good reason (we don’t even have five rooms in our house) but they made me this sign. Our house is called the BOP which stands for Babes on Progress and also Balance of Payments in macro economics.

College with ‘rona- one of my professors watches us through Zoom taking exams so we don’t cheat.

The thankfulness tree Mom sent me has been pretty fun to add to.

Banana Gate, also known as Banana Bandit, was a little prank that got pulled on me where someone taped banana peels to my bed. I STILL don’t know who did it after a month and yes I’ve interrogated my roommates and pretty much everyone else.

Here’s some interrogation footage. Austin, who looks the most suspicious, is still a likely subject.
So, that’s the room tour. Here are some other miscellaneous pictures:

Pretty campus- I wish I could be on campus more but all my classes are online. We sometimes make the trek to eat dinner on the drill field.

We hang out with a fun group of girls Wednesday night to talk about life and the Bible. It’s one of the highlights of my week.

I run most mornings of the week and it’s difficult to get out of bed early but so worth it and something my all-online schedule has given me the flexibility to do.

I just started reading for fun again! I’m currently reading Redeeming Love which is based on the book of Hosea and has come recommended to by most of my friends.

I tend to go to bed earlier than my roommates but sometimes I stay up and watch Hart of Dixie with them. Every once in a while we all do homework in the living room for a change of scenery.
Here are some other things I’m currently a fan of:
Music: NEEDTOBREATHE’s new album, Favorite Place by Kari Jobe
TV show: The Great British Baking Show: I watch it while doing homework sometimes and as someone who grew up watching Cake Boss, I had no idea baking could be this calm.
Movies: Clouds which I cried through but is a true story and so good. Also The Theory of Everything was a sweet one.
The Netflix documentary Social Dilemma about social media and the internet is so so good I recommend it to everyone.
Food: Broccoli Cheddar soup, apple juice, and fruit smoothies
Habits: I have Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter deleted off my phone and unless I want to post something, I only check them on my computer. I don’t know if its because I’m on my computer a ton anyway but the scrolling gets old quicker and I feel like my social media usage has gone down a good bit which is always good.
Bible: For me, there’s been a strong pull to Isaiah since March and our church here is doing a long series on it which has been a blessing. Isaiah 61 is especially good. I also am trying to read through the Psalms by reading one every morning.
Well, that’s about it for this update. I’ll end with this picture of my roommates and I on Halloween with one of the best costumes I’ve ever worn.
