I started this blog in July of 2016 because I loved to write and had friends starting blogs. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years!

I went back and read my first post, I’ll link it here because honestly…it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting haha. What’s funny is I don’t look back on the trip I wrote about and remember what I was feeling in the moment. I just look back and remember how great the experience was, but rereading the post brought me back to what a high school summer felt like. Back when there was so much time and freedom that sometimes felt disorienting to my very routine-oriented self. If I could go back, I’d tell myself to enjoy every second of it.

I keep seeing a quote circulating social media that goes “if it’s your calling, it will keep calling.” Aside from some Biblical nuances, I think it rings true. I didn’t see an end date to this blog, but writing it never felt like striving. There have been times where it’s much more difficult to write, and I post much less, but I’ve never felt there was meant to be an end.

The question of “How do you stick with it?” is really the wrong question I think. The first question should be “What sticks with you?”. I feel so blessed to have been able to explore my interests and creative endeavors as a kid and teenager because in my adult life, I have a good idea of what I like to do outside of my day job. There are skills and passions that just stick, and writing is one of mine. My best advice is identify the thing you can’t seem to shake and pursue it!

To be fair, this always has been an individual creative endeavor. I’m never working with deadlines or quotas for this blog – just my own motivation and idea of what it should be. I’m sure the pros have much more advice on this topic, and I hope to get there one day.

I’m so thankful I started when I did, however unqualified or vulnerable I felt. I’m sure there are posts I’d cringe to reread, but mostly there is 10 years of stories of God’s faithfulness to me.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to my friends and family who have read and commented and shared my blog over the years. I’ve had so many unexpected conversations and connections because of it, and I feel blessed that anyone would even read it. Go start (or restart) doing something you love! Here’s to the next 10! <3
